Job Description
Duties and
Responsibilities:
The DAEC ESOL teacher
duties include but are not limited to:
- Teaching an advanced
English class but not limited to specific level
- Planning and preparing
lesson plans
- Completing required
DAEC paperwork and reports.
- Participating in weekly
staff meetings and other meetings.
- Supporting DAEC ESOL
team as appropriate and necessary
- Professional
development licensing as needed
- Commit to obtaining an
adult education teaching authorization (LIA) within 2 years
of employment
Qualifications:
- Must have at
least 1 year experience teaching ESOL, preferably to adults
- Must have at
least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Colorado
teaching license with ESL endorsement or TEFL certification
preferred.
- Ability to
pass criminal history check
- Reliable
transportation, proof of auto insurance if you will be
transporting others in your vehicle
- U.S.
Citizenship or lawful permanent resident status required
Time Commitment:
DAEC’s part-time ESOL teacher will be required to work Monday
and Wednesday evenings, 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Other paid hours
include an hour of planning time for each class and an hour per
week for staff meetings. This position is for the school year
(August – June) with a possibility for summer school (June –
July).

The teaching position will take place at the Durango Adult
Education Center
Benefits:
Rate of pay is $20/hr with no benefits
